REUNION QUESTIONS
ANSWERS TO PREVIOUS QUESTIONS
- From Ted Robertson in Beeville, TX
Question: What are some of the Southern Gospel groups you like to listen to?
Answer: Thanks for your question! Reunion loves to listen to our friends like The Telestials, Song Of Glory, The Baileys, The Glass Family, The Springer Family, and The Goldens live when we sing with them. As far as some of the groups that we don't personally know - we like The Talley Trio, The Gaither Vocal Band, Legacy Five, The Isaacs, Greater Vision, and of course The Cathedrals just to name a few. We love listening to Southern Gospel CD's and these are some of our favorites. Thanks for your interest in our group.

Question: What does it take to get Reunion to sing at my church?
Answer: Thanks for asking about Reunion Trio coming to sing at your church. Our group is happy to sing when we are asked to sing. Just call us at 361-729-9294 or email us at jhawes@hughes.net and if we have your date clear on our calendar we will be happy to come. We work during the week so we have to limit our travels to distances that we can travel during a week end or even less distance if it is on a work day evening. We do not ask for anything to come but love offerings are appreciated to help with the cost of being on the road. All offerings go back into our ministry of spreading the Gospel message through song. We make our living working at our jobs during the week. Thanks for your question.

Question: Who plays the instruments on your CD's?
Answer: Thanks for your question about the instruments on our CD's. Actually, I program most of the sounds you hear on our CD's on my sound modules in our studio. We do put live acoustic guitars on and of course, the vocals are real. On our latest CD we invited our friends Josh and Stephen Bailey to play guitar and mandolin leads of a couple of the tracks. I did put some saxophone on a couple of the tracks also. We like to make our CD's sound as live as we can but it is just much more cost effective to sequence most of the instruments on our instrumental tracks for recording. Reunion never uses purchased tracks for recording purposes. Thank you for your interest in our recording process.

Question: Do you ever sing Joy On The Other Side Of Jordan anymore?
Answer: Thank you for asking about Joy On The Other Side Of Jordan. We love singing that song but sometimes we have to let a song go for a while to make room on the active list for new songs. There do seem to be some songs that we keep doing because of request. Some of those are The Healer, The Frog Song, When We All Get To Heaven, The Do Re Mi song, and others. I try to bring back some of the older songs from time to time because they are great songs. I will do my best to bring Joy On The Other Side Of Jordan in the near future. Thanks for your question.

Question: Why don't you let your daughter sing more?
Answer: I must admit that I have gotten that question several times at various places when we sing. Our daughter Hannah was given a beautiful singing voice and I have been dragging my feet a little to include her more in our programs. I am working to give Hannah more songs to sing at this time. We have two that we are rehearsing at the present time and there will be more coming in the future. I appreciate the fact that you like her voice and you can rest assured that you will be hearing more of Hannah in the future. Thanks for the question.

Question: I saw in your news page that you are finishing up work on a new CD. Where do you record?
Answer: Pam and I have a recording studio on our property just about 30 yards from our home. We are very blessed to be able to record in our own studio because it is more comfortable and we can take our time. That "taking our time" thing is not always good because it has caused us to take too much time to complete recording projects. Our friends The Song Of Glory and The Baileys record at our studio often. Brice Freudenrich of Song Of Glory has engineered several recording sessions himself and he probably knows how to run that equipment out there better than I do. We have met some great people through working with them at the studio and we are blessed to have it.

Question: How do you decide which songs to sing each time you sing?
Answer: I (Jerral) keep a list of the songs that we are up to date on. I call this "the active song list". When we get a singing date I find out how long we are to sing and I put a list together based on where and how long we are to sing. The girls usually go along with what I put on the list but occasionally they have a request and I usually try to honor that request (I guess I'd better if I know what's good for me). If anyone ask us for a particular song that is not on the list I am always glad to sing it providing we are still able to do the song. Some songs are rotated off the active list as we learn new ones and there are times that pretty much forget a song if we have not done it for several years. Bill, I hope this answers your question and we appreciate your interest in our group.
- From Samantha West in Oakville, TX
Question: Which of your songs is the most difficult for you to sing?
Answer: The answer to this question would probably depend on which one of us you are asking. I know the girls always ask me to put "The Healer" toward the front of the program because they like to get those high notes out before their voice gets too tired. "I've Got Joy" is another one that keeps us pretty busy because it is a fast song with lots of words and the parts are a little different than most of the songs we do. Other than that, our newest songs are the most challenging because we have not gotten into the routine of singing them very often. Thanks for your question and your interest in our group.
- From Albert Graves in Fulton, TX
Question: Are you going to record any more CD's?
Answer: I'm almost embarrassed to answer this question. Reunion has been "working" on a new CD for the past two years or so. We have gotten the CD about 80% completed and we are tracking vocals for the last few songs at this time. We have had good intentions of completing this CD sooner but we have run into various delays in the process. I do think we are nearing the completion within the next few weeks. We appreciate your interest in our group and in our recordings.
- From Bill Moss in Victoria, TX
Question: How often does your group practice?
Answer: We try to rehearse once a week. Our rehearsal time has been Tuesday evening for the past few years. Some weeks we do not get to rehearse as a result of various conflicts. There are times when we will get together at other times to rehearse when the need calls for additional rehearsal time. At the present time we are trying to record vocals for our latest CD during our weekly rehearsals. Thanks for your question and for your interest in our group.
- From Ralph Banes in Johnson City, TX
Question: When did your group get started and have you always had the same members?
Answer: Our group's first singing date was January 1st in 2000. We sung in Victoria, TX at Mel Felder's New Year's Day Singing. We will always appreciate Bro. Mel for giving us our first invitation to sing. The group started with Pam, Pat, and Jerral and the group membership still consist of those original members. When Pam and Jerral's daughter, Hannah, became old enough to sing she was added to the group. I guess you could say that REUNION TRIO is now actually a quartet. We hope this answered your question Ralph Banes and we appreciate your interest in our group.
